Our Commitment

Youth With A Mission is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups, and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. Also known as YWAM (pronounced “WHY-wham”), we unite in a common purpose to know God and to make Him known.

Back when we began in 1960, our main focus was to get youth involved in missions. Today, we still focus on youth, and we also involve people aged 9 to 90. We currently have tens of thousands of staff (called “YWAMers”) and we work in thousands of teams and locations.

We Are Missionaries

YWAM is dedicated to worshiping God and engaging in intercessory prayer as integral aspects of daily life. The pioneering of new ministries and methods, always willing to be radical in order to be relevant to every generation, people group, and sphere of society.

Our training is offered in many nations and languages. We aim to equip Christians to grow in their relationship with God and to serve others. Our courses focus on subjects like healthcare, the Bible, business development, and biblical counseling.

In all of our ministries, we desire to see God’s transformation in every sphere of society. When Jesus talked about the kingdom of God, He described an upside-down world, a transformed world. What would a world like that look like today?

One of the best parts of my month doing missions in Costa Rica was staying at this YWAM base! The people are amazing and God is doing great things at this location. The area the base is in is also very beautiful because it’s very close to a couple of the beaches. The staff members are the best!

The base sits within the Caribbean jungle, but only a five minute drive to a variety of beaches. The wildlife is beautiful; every time you look up there is some sort of colorful creature in the canopy. If you have an adventurous soul and a desire for a small, intimate community, this base is what you are looking for!

This is an amazing YWAM camp with a staff that are Christ-like servants. They are knowledgeable about the area and well connected with other ministries. The food is awesome. The rooms accommodate large groups and are comfortable. We loved this place and hope to bring teams back in the future.

Become a Volunteer

Volunteers at our base help us in different areas, according to their passion in life, using their gifts and talent to bless our community.

If you have already done a DTS and are looking for a place to continue being involved in missions, we are waiting for you. We encourage you to pray and ask God if He wants you to come here. If He says yes, come and join us as full-time staff at YWAM Puerto Viejo.
